LDM of The Elite Interview with 716 Live Magazine

716Live:Lets start with who is L.D.M?
LDM: I'm an passionate Hip Hop Artist/Producer from WNY with a story to tell.
716Live:So you're an artist and you produce... which would you consider your dominant craft?
LDM: I would have to say rhyming is my dominant craft. I started rapping at around age 5.
716Live:That's young. What got you started?

LDM: Growing up, my uncle was a DJ. So I used to always mess with his hip hop records and just study. I watched Krush Groove a lot and of course Yo! MTV Raps.
716Live:As far as producing how are you involved with that?
LDM: I've been producing for about 11 years. I started on a TR-909 Boss Machine and a Radio Shack keyboard. I got tired of rapping to industry beats
716Live:TR-909 I had one of those... Didn't work out to well for me tho lol. What is your tool of choice for creating beats today?
LDM: I've been using Reason for a while and lately I've been getting into FL Studio.
716Live:Speaking of those programs, how do you feel digital technology has impacted Hip Hop?
LDM: I think that it has made Hip Hop more accessible. There's thousands of great musicians that would never have the chance to put a project together if they didn't have access to home studio equipment. On the flip side it makes things seem kind of over saturated.
716Live:Which leads us to the next question... Buffalo is saturated with rappers and producers, what separates you from the rest?
LDM: I do a lot of "Quality Control" and have a lot of musical integrity. I won't just put out music because it's my voice or my beat. It has to actually be hot!
716Live:What advice would you give other local artists that lack quality control and/or musical integrity?
LDM: Just be honest with yourself. If it's your truth and you feel comfortable with it, release it. Don't be afraid of a second opinion, but know when to overrule that second opinion. I guess it's pretty complicated.
716Live:“ Masterpiece Music Group” Talk a little about that.
LDM: That was the label that I was putting together before "Maybach Music Group" gained a crazy buzz. Now the label is Empyre Nation. It consists of me, Beka (2010 WBLK Unsigned Hype R&B Female of The Year), and all of our music affiliations.
716Live:Is Empyre Nation accepting new artists or is the roster full?
LDM: We're always down to work with new people, but the main focus right now is getting our careers fully launched so that we can really provide a platform for new artists.
716Live:Makes sense. Incarceration, how did that affect your music career aspirations?
LDM: It put everything on hold. I got a clearer picture of what I wanted to do with my life, but I could've done that at home.
716Live:What are your goals with this music business?
LDM: I just want to be able to make a good living off of doing what I love. I also want to open doors for others to be able to do the same.
716Live:Any upcoming projects or events for L.D.M?
LDM: I've been releasing a new track every monday on my website masterpiecemondays.com My new album- "Masterpiece Mondays" is about to drop in the streets soon. I also just completed a new "Soul/ Hip Hop" album with my homie IG (Singer/Rapper/Beatmaker) called "The Elite"
716Live:Heavy work ethic. That's whats up!
360 or PS3?
LDM: I''ll go with PS3
 716Live:NBA 2k12 or Madden?
 LDM: That's hard. NBA 2k12.
 716Live:Biggie or Pac?
LDM: Big is my favorite. I'm more influenced by Pac.
 716Live:Jay-z or Nas?
LDM: Career wise: Jay-Z. The battle: Nas
 716Live:Obama or Bush?
LDM: Obama Maaan!!
716Live:hhaaa... Definitely! It was good speaking with you L.D.M. Any Last words or shout outs?
LDM: Yessir!! Shout out to the whole Empyre Nation and Firestation. Also any artist looking to work together hit me up on facebook.com/mrmasterpiece or twitter.com/mrmasterpiece
